Middle School Music
Middle School -
Music is a gift from God and we're privileged to partner with Calvary Bible Church to have excellent equipment and facilities in which to steward that gift. Each year in addition to learning lots of music theory in an active way, the Elementary School performs two large programs with song, drama, and choreography. The music from these Christ-centered programs becomes the basis for our theory studies. Students learn rhythm and pitch reading and writing as well as meter, dynamics, tempos, and musical symbols.
Middle School students at FVCA take General Music in 6th grade and have the option to participate in choir throughout their 6th-8th grade experience. Middle School music is focused on the practical application of the knowledge gained in Elementary School. Students perform ethnic percussion ensembles, play hand bells, write STOMP style percussion ensembles, sing, and study the music of popular movies as part of their music education. The Middle School also offers two worship bands for which students may audition. Worship 2 provides a weekly training ground and a slower pace for students just learning to perform with a group. Worship 1 is a highly driven, motivated, and experienced group of students who perform 3-4 times monthly in our chapels and concerts.
